A few months ago, I started to receive a significant amount of phone calls asking me for authenticity of my artworks. In most cases, the pieces were never painted by me, but all they had been sold as mine. I mean, approximate imitations of my signature were included in an undetermined amount of paintings, and were sold to private collectors. The following are some of them:
I have also been informed on the existence of some acrylic on canvases that have been sold as if had been painted by me. I can inform that I have never painted acrylic on canvases, and that all my artworks are exclusively oil on canvases. These findings suggest the possibility that my artworks could have been used for falsifications by changing the signature to obtain higher prices from collectors and galleries, or in private and public auctions as if were artworks from death painters. Although I have published more than 100 images of my paintings, a complete investigation on this issue remains to be performed, which is an attractive opportunity for additional falsifications. Two issues should not be ignored: i-) during 30 years, apparently, my paintings have never been in auction and ii-) nobody has ever asked me for certificates of authenticity and certificate of ownership, which is actually unusual in the art market. It could be advisable performing a deep research to stop potential illegal activities, and its consequences. I would like to collaborate on any clarification, and giving assistance for verifying the authenticity of my original artworks.
